Marie says ... In 1992, my two friends and I saw a film called Newsies. We loved the songs, the story, and that really hot guy playing Jack Kelly. My friend got a copy of the Newsies soundtrack and we staged our own musical in her basement for quite a few years. An older (teenage) girl in my ballet class discovered my obsession and cut out a brief article on Christian in some teen magazine like Seventeen. I still have it tucked away in a journal, a picture of Christian in Jack Kelly gear. Thanks to the internet I did my best to keep track of this boy. I discovered that I'd seen him before in a Spielberg film, Empire of the Sun, though in '89 I was barely three. Blockbuster video rental was a big help in keeping up with Christian's career because apparently the movie industry doesn't have its priorities straight. I managed to rent Swing Kids and Prince of Jutland, I got to see Little Women in theaters and was appalled at Joe's lack of reason in denying Laurie. It became clear very fast that this guy wasn't some pretty face in a Disney movie, and with each Bale film I tracked down or was lucky to get to see in theaters, I knew that he would only get better as time went on. I had my Leonardo DiCaprio phase and probably some others I can't remember, but Christian Bale has always been not only consistantly beautiful (sigh) but he's been consistantly talented...I mean INSANELY talented. Just in the last year he's been in The Machinist, Batman Begins and The New World (fantastic!). Those three films alone are unflinching examples of the man's talent, and yet there are SO many more, and lord knows Christian's just in his 30s. I'm twenty two now, not totally grown up, but I've defintely come of age following this man's film career. He is a staple in my life, a very pleasant alternative to the lesser impressive movie stars. No matter who's the flavor of the moment Christian always pops up with something that cannot be ignored. He's managed to skate gracefully below the radar while collecting such an extremely loyal fan base. As a film fan, and someone who totally adores this man, I love that I can still completely get lost in his films, not just because of his immense talent but because he doesn't whore himself to the media. His career will be everlasting, and I'll always be ready to spend my money.
Cydney says ... I'm afraid that my reasons are not so long winded as Marie's, but they most certainly exist. I am a Batman diehard, to the point where I would be able to tell you who the mayor of Gotham is but not of my own town. When I saw the Batman movies with Mr. Keaton I was severely disappointed, and then that atrocity with Mr. Kilmer made me want to shoot myself. And the last one with Mr. Clooney? Let's just say I now no longer have faith in society. So when I heard of Batman Begins I rolled my eyes, and thought no more of it. Several months later my father cajoled me into going to see the newest Batman film. I fell in love with Mr. Bale's performance, and in turn with Mr. Bale. He was so astounding in Batman Begins that I caught myself renting his other movies and next thing I knew I was a fan girl.
The Boss says ... In 1995, I was 11 years old. My father, came back to a professional trip. As he wanted to please my sister and I, he brought a surprise. It was the video of Little woman. I don't know why he choose this movie. Probably because it's a teen movie but til i can't stop watching.
Jean says ... I didn't like Christian at first. Until later i saw Equilibrium and I liked Christian straight away! What i appreciate from Christian's talent is his change of looks and of course his acting. Christian isn`t as other hollywood stars. The best actors and actresses come from England!
Frankie says ... I just arrived to the US and was invited to watch a movie with my cousins. It was called Empire of the Sun. I fell in love with Christian Bale after that. His amazing talent playing the role of a child during a time of war was so believable I was stunned by it. At the time, it was hard to find any kind of fan information about Christian but I remained a fan. He is by far one of the most amazing actors out there. Him and Ewan McGregor. I loved them both in Velvet Goldmine. It was both shocking and addicting.
Innusiq says ... I first saw Christian in Equilibrium and I saw an actor who could do things with his face that I've never seen any other actor do. I am amazed how he can change himself. His attention to detail...the way he moved like a young boy in All the Little Animals, his finger movements. I honestly wish him success but I hope he always stays on the fringe of fame. When an actor becomes a household name his art suffers. I have faith that Christian could hold on to his talent but...you never know just how absolutely power corrupts.
Andrea says ... I'm a Christian Bale fan because he's so good looking no matter what! He seems like a really nice guy he loves animals which is sweet. I love all of his movies so far especially the Prestige are awesome in my book. I think everyone should like him in some sort of way.
Meghan says ... I first saw Christian in Reign Of Fire in 2002. I was an instant fan. I thought his performance was incredible. His eyes especially got me. I love how you know so much about what he's thinking without him ever having to say a word. Anyway when I heard he was going to be the next Batman, I was thrilled and very proud, as in my family Christian had always kind of been "my actor" because of how much I loved him in Reign Of Fire. I thought he did an amazing job in Batman Begins, and I was even more proud when I saw the movie. He is definitely the best Batman. Since Batman I have seen him in The New World and The Prestige. I wasn't a huge fan of The New World as a movie, but I was a big fan of his performance in it. As for The Prestige, I loved it and it's one of my favourite movies now. He did an incredible job in that film. I can't wait for The Dark Knight to come out - I am greatly anticipating it - and I have also turned my mother into a huge Bale fan as well. I can definitely say now that I'm one of his biggest fans. To round it all off, I love Christian Bale because although he might not be in all the biggest films or be the best known, he's still a fantastic actor, makes amazing movies, and never fails to make me proud when I see him act. Plus there's the fact that he's got to be one of the most gorgeous men ever... :)
